Up to 5,000 Ryanair customers have had their flights for Thursday between Ireland and the UK cancelled due to strike action by pilots. Talks are to happen between Ryanair administrative and pilot representatives but the industrial action is likely to go ahead. Passengers affected are welcome to transfer to other flights available at the earliest opportunity.
The strike is about pilots wanting the standard arrangement of a transparent order of seniority according to who has the most experience / service time, giving them priority in matters of promotion, vacation and transference. Ryanair argues that they have already granted large increases in benefits to their pilots this year and that the strike is being engineered by competing airlines to take their business.
