A historic Irish store, founded in 1887 by immigrants to Kansas City, has been defaced by anti-immigrant graffiti. Browne’s Irish Marketplace is the oldest Irish building in North America. It has been run in by the Browne family for generations, and never suffered such disrespectful treatment before. It is the hateful attitude towards migrants, however, which shocks the owners more than damage to the wall. The incident has been registered with police and hundreds of people have shown support for the store and immigrants by kind words and gestures.
